Dear St. James School Community,

Thank you so much for the show of support you have demonstrated in these past few months. I am absolutely thrilled to have been selected as the new principal of St. James School. I look forward to coming to work every morning and there is nowhere I would rather be.

I am excited to roll up my sleeves and begin planning for next year. We are all so lucky to be part of this close-knit community with many good days ahead. I am fortunate to have many great relationships with members of our school and parish community and I look forward to getting to know those people I haven’t yet met! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or ideas you have for our school moving forward.

With great appreciation,

Mrs. Melanie Inzunza

Principal

The Lenten season is in full swing. Students and staff participated in Ash Wednesday Mass and have been participating in a variety of Lenten activities. From “Lentopoloy” in the Grade 6 classroom to the Development and Peace Calendar of Activities in Grade 4, your child is sure to have lots of information to share with you about this important season in our church calendar.

Our basketball teams wrapped up their seasons this week with successful games at the SD22 Zone Tournament hosted at Ellison Elementary. We thank all parents who were able to transport your child to and from games during the season.

The 2023 Valentines Candy Gram Sale was a huge success for the Grade 2 class! Thank you to all staff & students for their support during our campaign to donate to the local food bank and our Blessing Box! A special thanks to the parent volunteers, Julie Useda, Stacy Coultard & Darris Routley:) Love was all around this week as we celebrated Valentine’s Day. Mrs. Helen Sidney visited our school on Wednesday and shared her secrets to making it to 100 years old and counting! Her advice is to thank God everyday for good health and happiness. She also says to laugh a lot!

Catholic Schools Week was a week like no other. The parade was a joyful experience for all participants and spectators…it has been 16 years since St. James last participated in the parade and we were so happy to take part.    Our school assemblies and spirit days participation exceeded expectations.

Basketball teams…. Again this week our boys and girls team played hard and displayed superb sportsmanship.  Go Knights Go!!

Tonight’s 10th annual Family Fling will be sure to finish off our week of celebration with joy. Limited tickets will be available at the door. Bring cash if you wish to purchase food and beverages.
